Estimate, not a bill. Income tax + the Centre’s half of GST + union excise on fuel, split across ministries in the same proportion as the actual budget. State taxes, customs and corporation tax are not counted. Per-person figures use the 2026 population.

Read this before believing the number

It is an estimate, and it is a floor

Nobody knows the exact GST mix of your shopping, so the answer is a range. Only the Centre’s half of GST is counted, because only that half is inside the 53,47,315 crore Union budget — your state gets the other half, and state taxes are not counted here at all. Customs and corporation tax are left out because attributing them to one household would mean inventing a number.

Every assumption, every rate band and every source is written out in the methodology — including the three places the model is weakest. Read it before you quote the number anywhere.
